Protecting Your Child in the Entertainment Industry

The entertainment industry can open incredible opportunities for talented children — but it can also be confusing for parents who are stepping into it for the first time.

This workshop was created to give parents a clear understanding of how the industry works so they can support their child’s talent while protecting their child’s well-being and future.

Through real experience, trial, and learning the system from the inside, I’ve gained an understanding of the structure, expectations, and realities parents should know before pursuing opportunities for their children.

This workshop breaks those lessons down into clear, manageable modules so parents can move forward with more clarity, confidence, and awareness.

Why I Created This Workshop

• Over a decade navigating the entertainment industry as a parent

• Managed multiple working child actors at the same time

• Parent of breakout television actor Lonnie Chavis

‍ ‍• Experienced firsthand in auditions, bookings, contracts, and industry structure

When my son Lonnie booked his first television project, he was only seven years old.

By the time he was eight, he had already booked two television series and our family was fully navigating the entertainment industry.

At one point, I had three of my children working in the industry at the same time. That meant managing auditions, contracts, travel, school requirements, and protecting their well-being while they pursued their careers.

Lonnie went on to become a breakout star on television, but behind every role was a parent learning the industry in real time.

Over the past decade I’ve learned how the business works, what parents should pay attention to, and how easy it is for families to walk into situations without the right information.

This workshop exists because I wish someone had explained these things clearly when we started.

My goal is to help parents understand the landscape so they can support their child’s talent while protecting their child’s future.
